[Tokyo Game Show 2026] Booth constructed in-house: "Phase 1" - from scaffolding frame to desk with storage.

We've finally started working seriously towards our participation in Tokyo Game Show 2026.
This time, we at AZSTOKE are constructing our exhibition booth ourselves, rather than outsourcing the work. We are handling everything ourselves, from design and material procurement to assembly and painting.
A trade show booth is the crucial "face" that determines visitors' first impression of your company and products. That's why we want to reflect our intentions in every detail.
I want to personally experience and understand the process of that construction.
With that in mind, we chose to handle the construction ourselves this time.
This article will provide a detailed overview of the ongoing booth construction process, step by step.
① Booth design
Commissioning a professional company to create fully customized perspectives and drawings can be costly, but the reality is that it's also quite difficult for an amateur to create drawings from scratch.
An approach to generating blueprints from image data using AI. The method we tried this time was to "prepare a base image, and then have the AI read it to create a blueprint."
Visualize your ideas: Prepare a rough design and layout image of the booth you want.
AI-powered conversion to drawings and perspectives: Input the dimensions of a single booth (e.g., 3m x 3m) and an image into the AI to output the 3D drawings and layout diagrams required for the application.
After submitting the application to the secretariat and undergoing review, I had some concerns, wondering, "Will an application really be approved with a design generated by AI?" However, as long as the dimensions and main structural elements (wall height, location of fixtures, location of electrical main lines, etc.) were clearly defined, there were no problems.
When I actually submitted it to the secretariat, I didn't receive any requests for revisions or criticisms, and it passed the review on the first try without any problems .

② The booth structure was made using "single pipes".
The first thing we tackled was building the frame that would form the base of the booth. For this framework, we used "single pipes," which are commonly seen on construction sites.
The main reason I chose steel pipes is their sturdiness and high degree of flexibility. They have the strength inherent in metal pipes, giving me peace of mind that they can firmly support any decorations.
Furthermore, the ability to freely connect them with clamps means that the size and shape can be flexibly adjusted to suit the site, which is a major advantage.
It can be assembled more quickly and in a reusable form than building it from scratch with wood.
As we carefully assembled each pipe, adjusting the dimensions one by one, the inorganic collection of pipes gradually transformed into a "booth." The moment the framework was erected, there was a sense of accomplishment that only comes from building something by hand.

③ Paint thoroughly with spray paint
Once the frame is assembled, the next step is painting. The scaffolding pipes are just bare, unrefined silver pipes. To welcome visitors to the exhibition booth, it's essential to improve its appearance.
Therefore, this time we used spray paint. Compared to brush painting, spray painting has the advantage of being less prone to unevenness and allowing for even color application to curved surfaces and intricate details of pipes.
By simply adding a touch of painting, even the same scaffolding pipes can be instantly elevated to the look of a "well-crafted booth."
By meticulously painting every detail, a cohesive finish is achieved. It's now taking on a look befitting a welcoming guest at the venue.

④ Place desks on both sides, and use the space underneath for storage.
This booth wasn't just constructed by building a frame with scaffolding pipes. The "table" section, an essential part of any exhibition, was also made from scaffolding pipes and connected to create a sense of unity within the booth.
The layout is designed with desks on both sides of the booth. The idea is to have ample space in the center while allowing for visitor interaction and product display on both sides.
At trade shows, you inevitably end up with a lot of luggage, including inventory, bags, supplies, and spare materials. Finding a place to store all of this can be a constant struggle, but by organizing it under the table, you can keep your booth looking neat while still being able to quickly access what you need. This is a practical solution that balances aesthetic appeal with ease of operation.


⑤ The size is just right, and each booth is properly secured.
One surprisingly important factor when designing a trade show booth is its "size." If your booth doesn't fit properly within the designated area (booth space), it can lead to problems during setup on the day of the event and inconvenience neighboring booths.
This time, we were able to precisely match the dimensions and create a booth that is exactly 3m wide and 2.7m high. We expect the finished booth to make the most of the standard size. Because we handle the construction ourselves, we feel that being able to control these dimensions down to the millimeter exactly as we intended is a major advantage.
Now that things have come together to this point, I feel confident that we'll be able to successfully complete the preparations for our booth exhibition.

From constructing the frame using scaffolding pipes, to spray painting, making a desk with storage, and finally creating a one-compartment-sized structure, we are proceeding step by step, working with our own hands.
