Hello
This is Nakajima from AZSTOKE Co., Ltd.
This is the purpose of this project.
An emergency has occurred!!! Mud...
This is Part 4 of the base building that I introduced in this blog.
Just as we were about to finally set up the prefab on the land we had leveled in the previous blog, it started raining and the land turned completely to mud, creating a huge muddy mess...
We will think about how to solve this situation and this huge obstacle.
After we had leveled the ground fairly neatly, we lightly covered it with crushed stone to firm it down.
However...

1. It's raining
Since we are on top of a mountain, when it rains the ground gets terrible, as you can see.
When vehicles weighing several tons, such as dump trucks or excavators, pass over the ground, they will definitely leave marks on the ground, which can lead to the vehicle getting stuck.
Just when I thought I had finally made it this far, a major problem came to light.

2.It's all "mud"
It has turned completely into mud, and people can easily get buried just by walking on it.
As you can see in the picture, the situation is terrible as it is being scooped up with a shovel.

3. The more you move, the worse it gets...
I thought maybe there wasn't enough crushed stone, so I went to get some crushed stone in a truck and rolled it up.
We tried various things, but it was a vicious cycle and every time a truck passed by, it would leave large tire marks.
At this point, you realize that crushing stones alone is not enough to solve the problem.

4. Prefabricated construction must be put on hold
We were working towards installing a prefabricated structure, but as things stood, it became impossible to do so, so we contacted the contractor and put the installation on hold...
I think we were just one step away from that, but if we had built it assuming the sunny weather would continue, it would have ended up leaning badly, so I think it was a blessing in disguise.
However, I didn't know how to solve the problem, so I decided to just look into it.
5. What is ground improvement?
I started researching online, searching for things like "poor drainage," "mud," and "how to improve," and finally came up with the answer: ground improvement.
I remembered that something like that had happened when building a house, so I researched ground improvement.
We learned that there are multiple methods for ground improvement, but we also realized that unless ground improvement can be carried out as cheaply as possible, it will pose a major problem in the future development of SKYSQUARE.
The area is so large that if we were to hire a contractor to improve the ground for the entire area, it would cost tens of millions of yen, so it was not realistic to spend that much money on just that, and we needed to find a way to keep the cost as low as possible.
After considering various factors, the construction method that was decided upon was to use " cement solidification material for ground improvement ."
The main reason is that it can be done with a backhoe. And we have backhoes!! So this was the only option.

6. What is cement solidification material for ground improvement?
The first thing I found was this geoset.
Source: Taiheiyo Cement: Geoset When Geoset is mixed with soil, a hydration reaction quickly produces needle-like ettringite (3CaO·Al 2 O 3 · 3CaSO 4 · 32H 2 O). This ettringite cross-links the clay particles, forming a strong skeleton and quickly solidifying the soil. Furthermore, calcium silicate hydrate and other substances further strengthen these cross-links. It can be used for a wide range of applications, including improving soft soil and construction waste soil, and solidifying sludge and bottom sediment.
Geoset is a cement solidification material for ground improvement, and we are convinced that it will solve the problem of mud that is currently occurring.
This might solve the problem!!!
7. Where can I buy cement solidification materials for ground improvement?
The question was where to buy this.
Of course, it wasn't available at home improvement stores, so I first contacted Taiheiyo Cement.
Taiheiyo Cement representative: "We wholesale to building materials stores, but we don't sell to the general public."
That's what I was told... I was given the contact information for a building materials wholesaler in Yamanashi.
Next I called there.
Building materials store representative: "It's difficult unless you're in the construction industry."
Loaded...
Is it impossible to purchase in the first place? If it is impossible to purchase, then it is impossible to purchase in the first place.
8. hope
I found out that I couldn't buy it and thought I had no choice.
We decided to ask a contractor to improve the ground condition of only one section of the planned prefabricated building site.
The amount is about 1 million
It would be fine if this was the end of my home, but there's more...
It was then that I learned about a new cement solidification material for ground improvement through my interactions with the contractor.
Source: UBE Mitsubishi Cement Co., Ltd.: U-Stabiller
This cement-based solidification material can solidify soft soil found at all civil engineering and construction sites, improving it to high-quality soil. It was created with the aim of making effective use of limited land and passing it on to future generations. By selecting the optimal variety, it is also possible to solidify organic soil, humus soil, etc. We also offer varieties that can significantly reduce dust generation when spreading or mixing the solidification material.
I knew that I couldn't purchase Geoset, but I still wasn't sure if I could purchase Youstabilar, a different manufacturer, so I pinned my hopes on that.
Even if we asked the contractor we had commissioned to improve the ground for one section, we knew that it would cost a considerable amount of money to have to ask for ground improvement every time we expanded in the future, so we thought that we needed to be able to improve the ground as much as possible using only the cost of materials.
9. Flexible containers are essential!!
What other sizes will they sell it in?
This is also very important. In fact, flexible containers are an absolute requirement.
For example, cement sold in 15kg or 25kg bags at home improvement stores requires a significant amount of manpower. Since the cement solidification material is said to cover 100kg per square meter, a 25kg bag, for example, must be transported to the wrapping site, opened with a cutter, and unrolled, all by hand. If the amount of solidification material exceeds several tons, simply unloading it requires a significant amount of manpower. The heavy labor required for pulling it is unrealistic, so the method used in this case is to purchase it in 1-ton FIBCs. This allows loading and unloading to be done using the excavator's crane, and when wrapping the solidification material on the ground, a small cut is made at the bottom of the FIBC, allowing the excavator to lift and move it, rolling up the powder inside. There are even YouTube videos on wrapping solidification material in FIBCs, which I use as inspiration.
I see that everyone rolls it that way.
All of these videos are from professional people on-site lol
Therefore, purchasing in bulk is an absolute requirement .
10. Find the online building materials store "J-Works"
When I searched for "Eustabler" online, I found a website. It was run by Hozumi Trade Co., Ltd. and mainly dealt in building materials. I found that Eustabler was on that website .
J-Works: Eustabiller
However, it said "inquiry" and I didn't know if I could purchase it in the first place.
"If you can load and unload locally, you can purchase it in FIBCs."
That's it. I finally found a place where I can purchase it even if I'm not in the construction industry!!!
However, I didn't think that the loading and unloading of the purchase conditions would be useful here.
Purchase conditions
To unload
- Purchased: Excavator with crane function
・License: Vehicle, construction machinery, ground leveling, etc.
・License: Small mobile crane
License: Slinging
Having these four things fulfilled the conditions!!!
You can actually buy it with this!!!
I'm glad I have a license!!!
It was a very difficult roadmap, but it is finally starting to come into view.
11. Summary
I've finally started working on improving the ground, but since this is the first time I've done so in the area where I plan to install the prefabricated building, I'm leaving one section to the contractor and will purchase soil improvement solidification material for the expanded area after the prefabricated building is installed and try improving the ground myself.
After all, it costs nearly 1 million yen for just one section... I think we need to continue this and be able to do the work at material cost rather than outsourcing it to a contractor. The cost of materials alone would be around 200,000 yen.
Labor costs are the most expensive after all!!!
We will continue to forge ahead on the path of SKYSQUARE.
